The DEA Commits to Growing Cannabis in 2020

The United States Department of Agriculture announced that the Whole-Farm Revenue Protection program will offer coverage for industrial hemp crops growers in 2020. This is the first time that crop insurance is available for industrial hemp farmers.

The Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) wants 3.2 million grams of cannabis to be grown legally in the U.S. in 2020. The marijuana will be used for studies that investigate the effects of marijuana. Also, the agency finally plans to process new licenses to grow marijuana to be used for research.
